2D Computer Animation for Visual Communication: Advanced

Started teaching this unit today – 2D Computer Animation for Visual Communication: Advanced DX3D 36. This is a level 9 unit (advanced diploma / degree level), which we’ve decided to add to our course to better prepare students for progression to university and give them important skills in programming and interface design.

The unit involves using advanced animation techniques in the production of user interfaces, so I’m teaching the class to use Actionscript 3.0 in Adobe Flash. Today we started by making a drag and drop ‘Mr Potato Head’ game, and in subsequent classes we’ll be constructing lots of ‘cool’ interfaces for websites, applications and games.
